Want to know what differentiates DNA Plant Science from any other agri-chemical company in South Africa? We spoke to Derek Alexander, Managing Director of DNA Plant Science to learn more about the brand and what sets them apart from all the other companies out there.
Who is DNA Plant Science?
DNA Plant Science is an independent company that specialises in registering its own products specifically in the agricultural sector. The company began as a result of our own desire to create product lines that were uniquely our own. We felt that there was a definite gap in the market to provide farmers with a complete range of products. As a company, we wanted to give our clients every product that they might need during a season in order to simplify the process and make their lives easier. Ultimately for us, this meant that we could offer farmers competitive prices and excellent customer service from the moment we met.
What does DNA Plant Sciences do?
In basic terms, we import and distribute carefully selected ranges of pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, biostimulants and fertilisers to the local market.
Aside from our own registered products, DNA Plant Science additionally have exclusive rights and working agreements as the sole importer and distributor of product ranges from producers in China, Holland and Spain. Because DNA is continuously registering new products we can offer our clients a wide range and variety of products lines to choose from and assist with all their agricultural chemical needs at prices that are competitive and attractive to our clients.
Why choose DNA Plant Science?
There are a few reasons:
- Our team is truly passionate about what we do and that’s helping farmers to grow better. We do all the research and ask all the tough questions so our clients don’t have to. For instance, our Manvert line offers a range of products that are environmentally responsible and organically certified.
- We’re is constantly on the lookout for the latest research and products that aid farmers beyond just crop management. That’s why we’ve also introduced biostimulants that work together with genetic improvements and integrated disease management to promote food security.
- DNA employees are chosen because of their extensive technical knowledge and skills so that we can assist our clients in every way possible.
- Every project we take on is focussed on bringing innovation to the agricultural sector so that we can offer our clients the best and they can compete with international markets.
Why can producers have peace of mind when they choose DNA products?
Producers that choose DNA Plant Science products know that we’ve done all the legwork so that they can focus on what they do best and that’s planting and growing. The products we choose to make available to farmers have been put to the test internationally and by our team. They’re highly specialised and the formulations are state of the art. For a product to be registered and distributed in South Africa, it has to go through various lab and field tests on specific crops that we do ourselves. We won’t register or distribute a product that we believe doesn’t hold up to our standards.
What kind of support do your customers receive when they choose DNA products?
Aside from the rigorous testing that all our products undergo, we also offer our clients the necessary technical support from the moment we meet them, this we believe is what sets us apart. The relationships we build and the time spent with our clients makes all the difference in the services we offer. I myself have roughly 23 years of experience and knowledge working in the chemical industry. Our technical team is AVCASA qualified and we’re also registered with CropLife. We know our products inside out but we also, and very importantly, have a good understanding of the challenges our clients face. We’re also fortunate enough to receive the support, guidance and training from our international suppliers and the necessary statutory insurance with regards to product recommendations and efficiency.
