Manvert Stimulant Plus – Improving grain protein quantity.

Wanneer daar oor graan proteïene gepraat word, word daar verwys na proteïeninhoud en dan ook na proteïenkwaliteit. Vandag fokus ons op proteïeninhoud. Stikstof (N) is ‘n essensiele makro-element wat verantwoordelik is daarvoor om proteïeninhoud te verhoog.

Om ‘n hoër graan proteïeninhoud te verky, word meer stikstof benodig om aan die hoër behoefte te voldoen. Graan proteïeninhoud neem met ongevoor 1% toe vir elke 50kg N/ha toegedien.

Stikstof is ‘n fundamentele deel van aminosure wat as die boublokke van proteïenformasie dien. Die produksie van stikstof is egter ‘n komplekse proses en verbruik baie energie. Stikstof in die grond moet eers na die twee plant beskikbare vorms van stikstof, nitrate en ammonium, omgeskakel word. Van daar word ammonium omgeskakel na aminosure wat dan peptiedes vorm. Peptiedes word dan aanmekaar geskakel vir proteïenformasie. As ‘n hoë konsentrasie aminosure addisioneel aan die plant verskaf word op die regte tydstip, kan baie energie gespaar word deur die plant en die gespaarde energie kan dan gebruik word vir metaboliese prosesse in plante. Die proteïeninhoud kan ook verhoog word n.a.v die verhoogde aminosuur konsentrasie.

Manvert Stimulant Plus bevat 17 verskillende aminosure insluitend metionien wat spesifiek by proteïenformasie betrokke is.

Grain protein has two components associated with it, namely protein quantity and protein quality. Today we focus on protein quantity. Nitrogen (N) is an essential macro-element responsible for increasing wheat protein quantity.

To achieve a higher grain protein content, a greater quantity of nitrogen is required to fulfil the higher demand. Grain protein content increases by roughly 1% for every 50 kg of N/ha.

Nitrogen is a fundamental part of amino acids which act as the building blocks for protein formation. The formation of protein is however a very complex and energy taxing process. Nitrogen from the soil needs to be converted into the two plant available forms of nitrogen, namely nitrate and ammonium. From there, ammonium is converted into amino acids which are then linked together to form peptides. Peptides are then formed into proteins. If a high concentration of amino acids can thus be applied at the correct time, a lot of energy can be saved by the plant and these energy reserves can then be used for metabolic processes in plants and protein content may be increased due to additional amino acid supply.
